Hey Ninoy!

Hey Ninoy!

Can you see us now?

You must be smiling down upon us!

Taken a long time coming,

but we did it!

Hey genius!

You did not foresee it, huh!,

in all your intelligence and great foresight,

That your wife and your son will carry on the torch that you had lit!

Hey martyr!

Now you know that you did not die in vain.

You must be grinning down upon us.

Took us a long time coming,

but we did it again.

Hello Ira, thanks for the very kind comment.

Every librarian knows in what Philippine anthology book can Loreto Paras-Sulit’s Laarni – a Dream be found. It is one of the most assigned Philippine short story in English. Literature teachers just love Laarni. So simply drop by your school library and ask your librarian.

Keep reading. Watch people and observe things around you. Soon enough you will be writing, too.
